About this blog

This will be a continuing look at the raising of a puppy named Falcon. (sorry to all of you who were googling falcons and got here instead).

The hope is that people can learn from both my successes and mistakes. Falcon is a member of Midwest Search Dogs, a volunteer search and rescue organization in central Indiana. If all goes as planned he should someday follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Condor and his big brother Skywalker and become a human remains detection dog.

Falcon is a German shepherd who was born on May 29, 2018. He is from Austerlitz German Shepherds in Oklahoma.

Who am I?

My name is Connie Swaim and I own Connie Swaim Canine Behavior Services. I am a dog trainer who specializes in behavior issues. I want people to understand their dogs and enjoy them rather than be continually frustrated. I am a certified training partner with Karen Pryor Academy and a K9 handler for Midwest Search Dogs. I have participated in Schutzhund (now IPO); dabbled in agility and Rally and tried dock diving with my dog once.

But, mainly I just enjoy being with the dogs and helping others love their pets as well.

Join me on my journey!

Happy Training
